Popular 'Ambazonian General' and his boys surrender to the army

At least 8 secessionist Ambazonia fighters have laid down their arms in the Ako subdivision of the Donga Mantung division in the North West region of Cameroon.

Led by 'General Thrimba Ali', they are said to have taken this decision "with the aim of giving a chance to the peace process" launched by the Cameroonian authorities.

These secessionists, who long clashed with soldiers in the bush, were received at the entrance to the city of Ako by the security forces and other local officials.

They also received support from some newly elected councilors at Ako.

It should be recalled that the security authorities have repeatedly invited the combatants of Ambazonia to lay down their arms. Reintegration centers have been set up in several localities in the English-speaking area.

This armed conflict between government forces and the secessionists has left more than 3,000 dead and thousands of internally and externally displaced, according to reports by several international NGOs.
