Despite the government's distrust of the so-called independent press, he managed to build a diversified press group, with some 300 employees in 2016.

Radio and television experience

With a decree of 2000, liberalizing the audiovisual sector, he created the television channel, Equinoxe Television, one of the main private television channels in Cameroon, and Radio Equinoxe, one of the private radios in Douala. The survival of his group was threatened between February and July 2008, when Radio Equinoxe and Equinoxe TV were closed by the Cameroonian authorities

Mandates and distinctions

In 2015 he was appointed by the minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary3 Chairman of the Card Issuing Commission Press. Press card without which it becomes in principle impossible to exercise the profession of journalist in Cameroon

Its press organs have been the subject of a real threat from the Minister of Territorial Administration for a while. Atanga Nji maintains that Equinoxe, like some other media based in Douala, is in a conspiratorial approach against the Republic.

Words that greatly angered Severin Tchounkeu. The very discreet boss of the Equinoxe group, during the television news, strongly denounced a form of stigma.
