Coronavirus: Cameroonian government is confused

The Secretary General of the Prime Minister's Services has just published a new press release which brings accommodation to the first exit of his boss.

There is a great improvisation in government communication especially regarding the spread of the coronavirus in Cameroon. On March 17, the Cameroonian authorities took salutary measures. An initiative of Paul Biya, President of the Republic of Cameroon, presented by the Prime Minister, head of government. This, during a press briefing in Yaoundé.

In the opinion of several observers, these measures are slapped on the French model. Countries where nearly 175 people have already died from the disease. Among these measures is the closure of land, air and sea borders. But also, the closure of all schools ... for his part, the Minister of Justice orders the suspension of all hearings and the closure of all courts for a month.

50 people

Measures not widely respected by the population. The Prime Minister has just remedied it. In a press release on March 18, 2020, Séraphin Magloire Fouda recognizes "that a certain number of difficulties are observed in the implementation of some measures". In this endeavor, the "confinement" period is limited to 15 days. After this period, all establishments must reopen.

The new measure of the primature orders the reopening of the courts. However, they cannot accommodate more than 50 people. On the other hand, trade will continue. Particularly with neighboring countries like Nigeria. Cameroon already records 13 cases of positive coronavirus. Among these two are already out of danger. The government is counting on strict compliance with its various measures to avoid the worst.
