North West: Secessionists give a brilliant victory to the CPDM

Cynically, the positive effect of the English-speaking crisis for the Democratic Rally of the Cameroonian People (Rdpc) should be, at the end of the current electoral process, its triumph in the North West, natural fief of the Social Democratic Front (SDF). Due to the security situation prevailing in the region, the main opposition party in Cameroon, at the start of the legislative and municipal elections on February 9, has practically not campaigned in this part of the country already hit by a mass exodus of its populations.

It is therefore not surprising, at least if it sticks to the figures in circulation and whose confirmation by the competent bodies remains awaited, that the Rdpc whose administrative and political elite will have put the great means to mobilize the voters, that the Rdpc emerged largely victorious from this double ballot in the North-West. The party of Paul Biya is at the head in the 25 communes which counts the departments of Boyo, Bui, Momo, Ngoketunjia, Menchum.

The trends even give it the winner in the nine other municipalities. If these figures are confirmed in the coming hours, the SDF, which controlled a dozen municipal executives in this region alone, should lose the leadership of the opposition in Cameroon to the benefit of either the Undp or the Pcrn, which also carry out good legislative performance.
