Controversy against the DG of taxes: Paul Biya requests settlement

Questioned by the boss of the bosses by a letter in which he was shooting red bullets at the Director General of Taxes, Paul Biya finally reacts. The President of the Republic according to revelations from the Journal Jeune Afrique, instructed Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, secretary general of the presidency to organize a meeting with the protagonists of the crisis.

Paul Biya does not want the case to end up in court. Behind the black anger of Célestin Tawamba, the president of GICAM, hides a tax adjustment of 40 billion which targets the Société anonyme des brasseries du Cameroun.

The meeting finally took place on January 10. Took part in this meeting, Modeste Mopa Fatoing, Michel Paul, the chairman of the board of directors of Sabc and Emmanuel de Tailly, its managing director. According to Jeune Afrique which reveals the information, the finance minister Louis-Pau Motaze was not entrusted to this meeting. He was, however, the first to calm the two sides.

The meeting will have given birth to a mouse, no important decision has been taken. However Paul Biya persists and signs, the affair should not be known by the justice. Sabc is a major provider of employment for Cameroon and the president indirectly wants to develop it. Indeed, Sabc is the first Cameroonian taxpayer excluding oil. It has created 15,000 direct jobs and 35,000 indirect jobs.
