US extends military cooperation with Cameroon

American-Cameroonian military cooperation is widening and further strengthening. At least that's what a press release from the US ambassador to Cameroon says. The note dates from this Tuesday, January 21, 2020. In this press release we learn above all about a densification of military cooperation between the two countries. In the press release, it is written that this new phase of military cooperation between the two countries, contributes to securing the Gulf of Guinea.

This action is one of many American initiatives in favor of the security and stability of Cameroon and the sub-region. The United States makes an important contribution to the maritime security of Cameroon. In 2016, Trump's country is funding the creation of six maritime operations centers. Especially in Limbe, Douala, and Kribi. This allows naval operations at sea.

This after a boat from Nigeria capsized near Limbe. In 2020, the Cameroonian navy wants to buy two 110-foot American patrol boats to increase its ability to patrol the exclusive economic zone of Cameroon. “Our partnership remains solid. As we continue to help Cameroon in the fight against Boko Haram, ”concludes the press release.
