Death of Me Souop: the shocking revelations of Célestin Djamen

The death of lawyer Sylvain Souop continues to provoke reactions, questions and indignation. On his Facebook account, Célestin Djamen reacted vigorously to this macabre news.

The National Secretary for Human Rights of the Mrc reviews the chronology of events. From the accident to the evacuation, until death, he did not hide his misunderstanding and even displayed suspicion on the real causes of the death of Me Souop.

From the accident to the operating table

"A Cameroonian following a traffic accident, has suffered a broken arm in Bafoussam, a town located 300 km away and 4,770 holes or potholes in Yaoundé. To this Cameroonian accident victim, more than fifteen cities are crossed between the West and the Center just for a broken arm, which would mean that there is no hospital in Bafoussam or any other surrounding city capable of treating a fracture ”, he narrates on Facebook.

Relevance of the general anesthesia in question

Referring to the case where general anesthesia was performed on Me Souop, Célestin Djamen questioned its relevance. If anesthesia, "is general, two questions emerge, the first is why should we use it when the disease is located in the arm? The second question is why the surgeon did not carry out a pre-medication (homeopathic dose) to test the patient's reaction to the product as do all surgeons in the world? He wrote.

After all these observations, the head of the Mrc poses an implacable conclusion. He indicates that the death of Me Sylvain Souop stems from a desire to finish with a recognized defender of "political prisoners" in Cameroon.

The recommendation

"It therefore follows a clear desire to do away with a central figure in the defense of political prisoners who, with his collective, will have laid bare a foul-smelling and mafia-like judicial system under the orders of Satrapie." A clear message is therefore addressed to the current or potential lawyers who “would take the risk” to defend brilliantly, as often, the militants of the MRC. However, the crime will not go unpunished, history will deal with it in a beautiful way. From now on, I would not recommend to those who oppose this regime (I am not saying “opponents”) to confide, if necessary, in public hospitals ”.

The Minister of Public Health announced an administrative inquiry. It should make it possible to know the real circumstances of the death. Sylvain Souop died on Thursday. And since the announcement of his death, the political class has unanimously paid tribute to him. Thus testimonies on his professionalism, his rigor and his integrity abounded.

Local or general anesthesia?

Then he wonders how anesthesia can cause the death of a patient? “Despite everything and after several hours on the road, an Emergency Center (known as the Reference Center) in the Capital finds that it is necessary to operate on the patient. We therefore assume an anesthesia which is either local or general. If it is local, how could it cause death, even if it is complicated? "
