The decision on the date change was taken this Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the beginning of the afternoon, at the end of the consultation meeting that the CAF members held with the members of the Local Organizing Committee.

The decision on the date change was taken this Wednesday January 15, 2020, at the beginning of the afternoon, at the end of the consultation meeting that the CAF members held with the members of the Local Organizing Committee.

Thus, unlike the last final phase of the CAN 2019 which was played in Egypt during the months of June and July, CAF took the decision to change the date of the next final phase of the African Cup of Nations from football due to the unfavorable weather conditions in Cameroon.

The CAF decision taken today also denies the rumor that announced a co-organization of CAN 2021 between Cameroon and Gabon, due to the delay in the construction or rehabilitation of sports and road infrastructure in the country of Roger Milla.
