North West: three gendarmes killed in Widikum

Three Cameroonian gendarmes were murdered in Widikum, in the northwest yesterday. The incident occurred around 7:50 am. According to initial information gathered from the local population, the victims were ambushed by secessionist fighters from Ambazonia.

Military sources joined by the camerounWeb editorial state that these gendarmes were en route for a patrol. Their weapons were swept away by the secessionists.

It should be recalled that in the same morning of Wednesday, 03 secessionists were shot in Bamessing. They were conducting a roadside check when uniformed men dressed as civilian suits captured them, killing all three of them.

Violent clashes between the two camps continued throughout the day in Bamessing village of Ndop Central sub-prefecture.

These clashes have resumed since the announcement of the funeral of the former mayor of Buea, Patrick Ekema. The secessionists have decided to do everything possible to disrupt the ceremonies.
