Maurice Kamto is in Paris!

More than two months after his release, the president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) Maurice Kamto has resumed service.

According to information received by CameroonWeb, the international lawyer is currently traveling in France "for professional reasons".

Difficult for the moment to know the real reasons for the presence of the former resident of Kondengui in France.  It should nevertheless be noted that his stay coincides with the opening on Monday in Paris of the appeal trial of Teodorin Obiang Nguema.

Rumors had indicated that Maurice Kamto was due to join Teodorin Obiang Nguema's defense attorney's court, which was being sued in France for "ill-gotten property".

In October 2017, Teodorin Obiang Nguema - also vice-president of Equatorial Guinea - was found guilty of money laundering, embezzlement and corruption by the French justice system.  He had received a three-year suspended prison sentence and the confiscation of his property in France.
