Gouache: Paul Biya sends Dion Ngute to victims

The Place des Festivals of Bafoussam is home to Saturday, November 09, 2019, the tribute ceremony to the victims of the natural disaster of Gouache district.

43 people lost their lives following a landslide that occurred on Monday 28th to Tuesday 29th October 2019. The official report also mentions about 150 survivors.

Since this tragedy, the government has been carrying out acts of solidarity and care for the victims.  After having released 200 million CFA Francs to recapture the survivors and organize the funerals of the deceased, the regime of Paul Biya yesterday handed over to the survivors donations consisting of mattresses, blankets, bags of rice, soap boxes, etc.

On this impetus, the government also decided to organize the Bafoussam festivities from 10 am, a tribute ceremony to the deceased.  In a statement issued on 05 November 2019, the Governor of the Western Region, Awa Fonka Augustine, said that on this occasion, the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, will be personally represented by the Prime Minister, head of government, Joseph Dion  Ngute.  "The governor is counting on the mobilization of everyone to sympathize with the bread of all the families who have been tested".
