A university teacher reportedly kidnapped in the Northwest

Dr. Confidence NGAM was kidnapped yesterday by armed men in Bamenda. Professor at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences and also head of the schooling department, Dr. Confidence NGAM was ill at the time of his abduction, confided sources close to the teacher.

The regional branch of the national union of higher education teachers, SYNES, plans to observe a sit-in this Friday in front of the Rectorate of the University of Bamenda to express his frustration at the recurrence of kidnappings of teachers in the region.

The union also announced that its members will observe next Tuesday three days of strike to bring the North West authorities to enhance the safety of teachers on campus. In response to these announced actions, North West Governor Adolphe LELE LAFRIQUE is chairing a crisis meeting today, according to a source close to the governor's office.
