Pouma accident: Biya sends condolences to the affected families

This is the message contained in the correspondence that the Head of State addressed on 27 September 2019 to the governor of the Littoral region.

President Paul Biya wrote to the governor of the Littoral region on Friday, September 27, 2019, following the serious traffic accident that occurred on the night of September 18 to 19 in the village Ngwei II, located in the department of Sanaga Maritime.

"... I ask you to convey my sincere condolences to the families of the victims.I add my wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded and comfort to the survivors, "said Head of State.

The tragedy occurred as a result of a collision between a LT TR329AE semi-trailer truck traveling at high speed in the direction of Pouma-Edéa and a bus of the Guanti Express Express travel agency, CE 076IG, going in the opposite direction.

Nine people were killed and eight others seriously injured. In Cameroon, road accidents are the second leading cause of death after malaria. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Cameroonian roads killed 1,900 people and injured 6,000 in 2018 alone.
