Justice: Georges Baongla wants to invite Paul Biya to court

The editor of the newspaper Le Démenti, imprisoned in Kondengui prison for alleged defamation, quoted the President of the Republic among his witnesses.

Unpublished in Cameroon! An inmate wishes to call the President of the Republic to court. This is the wish in any case, Georges Gilbert Baongla.

The well-known editor of the newspaper Le Démenti was arrested on 29 May 2019 and placed in pre-trial detention in Yaoundé-Kondengui central prison for alleged defamation of certain personalities. Among them, the president of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguié Djibril, the ministers Laurent Esso, Jacques Fame Ndongo, Gregory Owona etc. and Franck Biya, son of the Head of State.

The case is enlisted at the Court of First Instance of Yaoundé - administrative center. At the opening of the debates, informs the weekly Kalara published on July 2, 2019, the mis en cause solicited the appearance of Paul Biya among the witnesses of the defense.

He also claims the presence before the bar of the powerful businessman, Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga, the boss of the press group L'Anecdote at the root of his legal troubles. It was indeed he who had filed the complaint that led to the arrest of Georges Gilbert Baongla.

The case was sent back to July 24, "to allow the mis en cause to call his witnesses for further debate," says Kalara.

Paul Biya will be present in court, as wishes Mr. Baongla who always presents himself as his son, the probability is very tiny.
