The leader of the MRC, who came 2nd in the last presidential election, who has been deprived of liberty since 28 January 2019 following peaceful demonstrations in several cities of the country

Me Basile Ader , president of the International Observatory for Lawyers in Danger (OIAD), and vice-president of the Bar of Paris and Me Stéphane De Navadelle (here in the image with the activist David Eboutou ) arrived in Cameroon to take part in the solemn return of the Cameroon Bar. They took the opportunity to ask permission to meet Pr Kamto who is also their colleague.

The two lawyers were turned back twice before the doors of the penitentiary. First time on Friday, June 7th, and the second time the next day, Saturday. However, assures Me Ader, they were in possession of all the necessary authorizations to meet the prisoners of the MRC. " I have not yet been able to identify at what level the instruction was given to not allow me to have access to Maurice Kamto when I had obtained all the authorizations. It is clear that this is an obstacle to the fundamental right of prisoners, " he insurgent at the microphone of RFI (Radio France International).

The vice president of the Paris Bar promises a report in the coming days to officially denounce what he considers a violation of the fundamental right of defense.
