Anglophone crisis: Beti Assomo forbids the use of telephones to soldiers

Minister Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Defense. Joseph Beti Assomo, visiting the North West and South West, has banned the use of phones (androids) in any operational engagement situation.

This measure, we learn, aims to curb the phenomenon of leakage of sensitive images and strategic information of the army on social networks.

The Cameroonian military no longer has the right to use their mobile phones during field operations. Decision made by Minister Joseph Beti Assomo.

This measure is justified by the publication of sensitive photos of the armed forces and / or the disclosure of certain strategic information on the Internet, notably via social networks such as Facebook and the discussion forums created by certain promotions or contingents of the army. All things contrary to ethics, duty of confidentiality and the protection of secrecy, reminds Mindef.
