Cameroon - Paul Chouta Arrest: Calixthe Beyala reacts to the arrest of the whistleblower

On the evening of May 28, 2019, Paul Chouta was arrested at the Biyem-Assi neighborhood in Yaoundé, and then led to the direction of the judicial police by elements of this dismemberment of the police force. According to the first information gleaned around this case, it turns out that his arrest would be made by the writer Calixthe Beyala, who lodged a complaint against him for defamation and insults.

The latter has also confirmed on his Facebook account, by consecutively posting 3 messages in connection with this case. She first wrote, "When you spend the time defaming people, you answer for this despicable act in front of justice ... an informed cat is worth two". She returned to the charge a few hours later with a message in which she states that "when a guy who pretends to be a journalist defames you, drag him to justice." Before ending with a message in which she openly assumes responsibility for the arrest of the whistleblower "I filed a complaint against Lilloise Chouta and those who slandered me ... we can have different opinions without slandering"
