According to reports from the village of former prime minister Philemon Yang, in Nwa district, Donga Mantung department, northwestern region, several houses in the village were allegedly burned to the ground by the Cameroonian army.

The soldiers reportedly stormed the village around 4 am on Saturday, May 25, 2019, and reportedly shot villagers before burning down some buildings in the village.

We also learned that the villagers, frightened and defenseless, only came back to see their properties in ashes.

Most of them have taken refuge in the villages of Lip and Warkaka in the neighboring Federal Republic of Nigeria.
