Cameroon: Soldiers continue to torture and kill Amba veterans

Although the Minister of the Interior, Paul Atangana Nji, has ensured that the repentant Ambazonian fighters would be well treated, the security forces execute another program.

Several veterans were reportedly arrested in unidentified locations, while many more were reportedly killed.

Today in Bangshie, village of Medankwe in the Bamenda I subdivision, two ex-combatants have been abused by the forces.

A source said: "These two young men, Amando and Abamukong, were arrested on Tuesday by troops stationed to protect a government building erected by the Chinese.

"They were arrested for not possessing identity cards and tortured as usual. One of these young people spent a few months in the restoration forces and then released after paying a ransom. He left, had Yaounde but after a few months, he returned to visit his mother.

Unfortunately, someone told the army that he was a separatist ex-fighter.

"Instead of trying to rehabilitate him and his friend, as the Cameroonian government claims, they were tortured with machetes. His grandfather came to his aid and he was also tortured. The old man can not walk. Right now, families do not know where these boys are. "

On November 30, 2018, President Paul Biya created a national committee for the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration of Boko Haram veterans in the extreme northern and separatist veterans in the northwestern and southwestern regions.

The committee in question has not yet achieved the expected results.
