Southwest: BIR releases 80 people taken hostage

The Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) released about 80 people a few hours ago in the Southwest. The hostages, travelers in 15 cars had been taken on the Muyuka-Kumba road, cities respectively located in the departments of Fako and Meme.

The gunmen, the perpetrators of the abduction, led their victims into a bush before stripping them of all their belongings.

The BIR managed in the evening to release the abductees after clashes with the armed groups. For the moment, it is difficult to put forward an assessment of these fights.
