Human rights: Security Council received report on Cameroon rights violations

The United Nations Security Council has been urged to take action against allegations of human rights violations in Cameroon recorded in recent months.

In a report released Tuesday (March 12th), Human Rights Watch's group said it was alarmed by the wrongdoing of civilians in Cameroon since the escalation of the crisis and urged the UN Security Council to take action. urgent.

The human rights group said the Cameroonian government had used excessive force since the crisis in the northwestern and southwestern regions of Cameroon intensified with the torture of civilians and extrajudicial executions.

All these rights violations that have lasted for more than two years have attracted less attention from the United Nations Security Council; and Human Rights Watch has now instructed the organization to maintain its credibility by giving the situation in Cameroon the attention it deserves.

On several occasions, the Government of Cameroon has denied reports of human rights violations, while asserting that it will investigate and prosecute any member of the defense and security forces of the country suspected of such crimes.
