MRC case: Kamto closed hearings scheduled today

The leader of the MRC, Maurice Kamto, will in principle have to appear today before the judge of the Military Court of Yaoundé.

The hearing originally scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2019 at 9:30, had been postponed by the investigating judge, without any known reason.

"For reasons still unclear, the investigating judge of the Military Court of Yaoundé has sent back to Tuesday (February 26) the appearance before him of the President "Maurice Kamto" had reported the spokesman of the politician, Olivier Bibou Nissack, adding that "the extraction of political defendant Maurice Kamto from the main prison of Yaoundé has not been made to the prison administration".

Accused among others of "insurrection" and "hostility against the homeland", Maurice Kamto, according to some sources could be heard rather behind closed doors.

The famous French lawyer Eric Dupont-Moretti, announced his support for Maurice Kamto, informing that he intends to seize an international body likely to note the violations of the rights of the political opponent of Cameroon.

The politician and 145 other people (militants of the MRC and allies) arrested in the framework of the "white march" of January 26, were déferrés at the prison of Yaounde, Kondengui, the night of February 12 to 13. Placed under arrest warrant by the investigating judge of the Yaoundé Military Court.
