Cameroon Crisis: Equinoxe TV, authorities new target

Alongside France 24, RFI ... the chain that runs Sévérin Tchounkeu was censored Thursday (February 7th) in Yaoundé during the trial of Julius Ayuk Tabe and seven other separatist leaders.

At the third hearing of the lawsuit between the State of Cameroon and seven 'Ambazonian' leaders, all the media wishing to cover this meeting could not have access to the court because of a decision taken at the level of the Department of Communication from the Ministry of Defense, learns Lebledparle.com.

If Equinoxe TV, France 24, RFI ... were outright forbidden to show up, several other journalists were turned away that same day in front of the headquarters of the army headquarters which houses the Military Court of Yaounde. "They should have approached the competent authorities two days earlier to make themselves known," said the authorities in place this Thursday morning.

Journal Du Cameroun reports also that, on the spot there existed two lists: a list of media allowed to attend the debates of the day. There are the names of the state media and some other bodies cited as close to power. He says. "On the same white page (held by a military editor's note), in a box, are mentioned names of media that do not have access to the Tribunal, including Equinoxe Tv and France 24, RFI ..."

Other media still were able to get closer to the services of the colonel Didier Badjeck, the one of the department of the communication of the ministry of Defense to receive the authorization to cover the process.
