Ambazonia: An important oil field discovered in the English-speaking zone, Tiko precisely

The new Tiko oil field with a potential of at least 22 million barrels of oil is a beacon of hope for Cameroon's hydrocarbon production.

The National Hydrocarbons Company (SNH) has hopes for the Tiko oil field located in the maritime zone in the Rio del Rey basin.

SNH explains that the geological structure of the Tiko field is subdivided into three compartments. Two of the three compartments were drilled. Geological and geophysical evaluations of the undrilled compartment indicate a potential oil volume in place of around 19 million barrels, while for the two drilled compartments, these assessments indicate a potential of 22 million barrels initially in place . The SNH specifies that additional drilling should be conducted to determine the expected recoverable reserves.

On the Tiko field, the SNH already operates the well called "TKM3". At the start of its production, this well, we learn, was producing at a rate of about 1,500 barrels per day, but in September 2018, its flow was 919 barrels per day, corresponding to a natural decline. This flow represents a contribution of 1% on the national production.
