CAN withdrawal: surprising reaction from Serge Espoir Matomba

After the CAF's decision on Friday, tons of reactions arose on both sides; coming from politicians, sportsmen, media men and internet users.

In a post on his official Facebook page, the first secretary of the PURS (people united for social renovation), expressed sad on the news. All the while, he thinks it would be a way for Cameroon to prepare well.

Here is the entirety of his publication:

Sad to know that CAN 2019 was withdrawn in Cameroon tonight. We could have avoided this umpteenth humiliation if we had been better prepared to face this deadline.

But should not we back down to better jump?

The resolution of crises in the different regions of Cameroon should be our priority. We called for the pacification of Cameroon before the presidential election, but were not heard.

Today the other major fight we have undertaken is that of the revision of the electoral code, so that it guarantees the transparency of the electoral process.

It is especially necessary that the construction of the infrastructures which the Cameroonians must naturally benefit from, continue and finish in time.Otherwise, it is still the people who will have to pay for an additional payment in case of non-delivery of work in time.

A sports competition of such magnitude that the African Cup of Nations should serve to enhance the image of Cameroon and not the other way around.

It's time to put everything back flat.
