CAN withdrawal: the strategy of the SDF to have the head of Paul Biya

The "party of the balance" demands that all the light be shed on the withdrawal of the competition in the country by the CAF.

The parliamentary group (18 seats) of the Social Democratic Front (Sdf) in the National Assembly seized, Wednesday, the Speaker of the Lower House, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril to propose a resolution to establish a commission of inquiry Parliament on the withdrawal of the organization of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) Football 2019 in Cameroon.

Recalling the reasons that led, on 30 November in Accra (Ghana), the African Confederation of Discipline (CAF) to recalibrate the host country of this competition, the opposition politicians, under the signature of Joseph Mbah- Ndam, are indignant. For them, this situation has not only led the President of the Republic to make false commitments, announcing that his country "will be ready the day said," but in addition "has put the Cameroonian people in an unprecedented disgrace." For Sdf MPs, such a state of affairs requires the establishment of a commission of inquiry, "to establish the responsibilities and draw the necessary consequences."

The party of Ni John Fru Ndi, through this initiative, acts in accordance with the Basic Law recognizing, in Parliament, the right and even the duty of control the governmental action "by oral or written questions and by the constitution of the commissions investigations on specified objects ". The rules of procedure of the Glass Palace, for its part, specify that parliamentary inquiry commissions are formed to collect information on specific facts and submit their findings to the National Assembly.

The approach of the Sdf also appears as a way to put pressure on the executive, which has so far taken no action to shed light on the mishap, followed by global humiliation, Cameroon. Where it is found that close collaborators have made the President of the Republic lie about the good execution of the infrastructure works and the respect of the deadlines of the specifications of the Caf. On the subject, Rule 87 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly provides that "no parliamentary commission of inquiry may be established when the facts have given rise to legal proceedings and as long as such proceedings are in progress" . And to clarify: "If a commission has already been created, its mission is taken as soon as the opening of a judicial inquiry relating to the facts that motivated its creation".

Shortly before the Sdf, it is Cabral Libii, arrived in 3rd position at the end of the presidential election of October 7th with 6.28% of su? validly expressed rages, which engaged hostilities. He seized, by correspondence, the presidents of the National Assembly and the Senate "on the need for a parliamentary inquiry about the withdrawal of the Can". The candidate of the Universe Party said he has "the firm hope that this urgent demand of the people will be filled by his elected representatives". If he does not, he promises, with his eye on 2019, that "the people will wait patiently for the legislative and municipal elections".
