CAN withdrawal: humiliation and hurts officials, Nintcheu speaks

The SDF deputy also calls for the establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry so that all "light is fully made on this disappointment that ends to discredit our country abroad"

Below, the entirety of the Statement by the Honorable Jean Michel Nintcheu

The African Football Confederation has just withdrawn the organization of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon. A thunderclap unprecedented in the annals of the History of our sport-king. Cameroon has nevertheless won the organization of this Can since 2014 when nothing required it. One can not pass such a forfeiture by profits and losses.

The true culprits of this national disaster must pay the high price in accordance with the law. There is no question of charging only the peripheral performers or taking advantage of this earthquake to proceed to settling political accounts.

There is no need to procrastinate as soon as the ladder of responsibility can be easily established. The causes of this historic humiliation are known.

In addition to the inertia and improvisation erected in government methods, the wait-and-see attitude observed in the actual start of the work was dictated by the quick and easy lure of profit.

The various mafias lurking in the shadows have understood that rapine could only be better deployed through a well-maintained long-term strategy aimed at achieving the various emergency procedures with what it entails as retro-commissions and reducing the number of signatories due to the simplification of administrative formalities, release of funds.

Football, which is the only unifying element of the Cameroonian people, has suffered a great deal of global humiliation.Given the gravity of the ethical and financial situation (more than 650 billion CFA francs foreseen in the State budget for the 2018 financial year and the hundreds of billions earmarked for this purpose for the fiscal year 2019), a parliamentary commission of inquiry is required. So that all the light is entirely made on this disappointment that ends to discredit our country abroad.

Cameroon has definitely become the laughing stock of the whole world. As long as Mr. Biya is in power, the process of putrefying the image of Cameroon will be irreversible.

This seven-year term says great opportunities is being transformed from the beginning into seven-year deep disappointments. This is no surprise for Cameroonians who have not yet been spellbound by 36 years of obscurantism.
