Far North: Islamic Development Bank Invests 21 Billion Dollars

This is the second phase of the Integrated Rural Development Project of Chari-Logone (PDRI-CL). Funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the second phase of the project that will run from 2019 to 2021 through five components, aims to improve primarily the living conditions and income of rural populations in the department of Logone and Chari .

The second phase of the Chari-Logone Integrated Rural Development Project responds to the development concerns of all the areas affected by the devastating actions of the Boko Haram terrorist sect, which raged for more than three years in the Lac Basin region. Chad.

As such, the implementation of this phase of the project in its components concerns key sectors including rural infrastructure, consists of building or rehabilitating 450 km of rural tracks and a bridge over the Taf Taf, as well as socio-economic infrastructure. economic activities (classrooms, shops, boreholes, etc.), support for agriculture and livestock farming with the development of hydro-agricultural basins for food crops and market gardening, where the project plans to develop 1450 hectares agricultural land with a water-efficient irrigation system and high-potential speculation.

The improvement of livestock productivity concerns the production of fodder, the availability of feed and the improvement of the cattle and poultry breed. Also, the agricultural extension sub-component will focus on the dissemination to producers of new varieties or breeds and adapted production techniques including the use of new varieties, the respect of the appropriate techniques for the varieties in terms of use. fertilizers, herbicides, phytosanitary products, organic manures. Before initiating this second phase, the first one that was carried out from 2010 to 2015 has obtained convincing results. A satisfaction for Minepat and development partners who have visited several project sites like the IDB.

At the level of socio-economic infrastructures, the PDRI-CL realized flagship projects in terms of construction, rehabilitation and equipment.
