what Atanga Nji told the governors on Monday

In view of the smooth running of the presidential election on 7 October, MINAT has convened the first semiannual conference for the 2018 financial year on 10 September in Yaounde.

Creating conditions necessary for the running of the presidential election before October 7, date chosen for the poll, is the imperative work of the governors of the 10 regions that met in Yaoundé this morning as part of their annual conference, the first of its kind for the Minister of Territorial Administration (MINAT) Paul Atanga Nji. "The administrative authority and security of the electoral process" is the theme of this conference. He summarizes in himself the object of this gathering.

For Atanga Nji, "This conference is being held in a particular context marked by the 2018 presidential election of 7 October. Governors must therefore take appropriate measures to ensure that the presidential election takes place in a secure environment. "

It will therefore be a question for these administrative authorities to create the necessary conditions for the proper conduct of the poll and to set up strategies to secure the electoral operations, from the exit of polling stations to the proclamation of results, because this election to the Supreme Judiciary represents "a crucial moment in the life of the nation, it is to say how much we are all concerned and challenged. 2018 will be an important election year, all security arrangements will be made to ensure that electoral operations are conducted in a calm and secure manner, "says MINAT.

Regarding the security situation that flounders in the English-speaking regions, the MINAT was reassuring: "The Head of State gave clear and firm instructions, the presidential election will be held in the 360 arrondissements of Cameroon ". He therefore calls on the nine candidates to compete before, during and after the election. "The law is the law no one is above the law all the candidates who are engaged in the electoral process have duties and obligations and I expect from them an exemplary behavior, a measured language, a republican attitude, "he says.

For two days, the governors will expose the security, administrative, political, economic and socio-cultural situation of each region; three major interventions will be on the menu namely: presentations focused on securing the environment during the next presidential election of the Secretary of State for Defense in charge of the gendarmerie and the delegate general for national security; and the communication of the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development on the progress made in decentralization.
