'Made in Cameroon' cars available from 2020

The information was made public on 21 September 2018 in Douala. Six years after announcing the construction of a Made in Cameroon assembly and assembly plant, the Government has just chosen the site that will house this project. This is the industrial area of ​​Bonabèri which is housed in Douala in the Littoral region. 


Ernest Ngwaboubou the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development proceeded last Friday laying the foundation stone. For the Government this marks a significant step forward in the realization of this project. At present, there is only the winning bidder in this market to take action.

The Cameroon automobile industry company (CAIC) since it is about it, signed an agreement of cession of 24 hectares of land with the Mission of development and management of the industrial zones (MAGZI).

In 2011, the Government spoke for the first time about the construction of this Made in Cameroon assembly and assembly plant. Since that time, it had been specified that from this factory, only trucks and light vehicles will be released.

The objective of this project is to provide Cameroonians with cars whose cost will be accessible to them. They must be sold at prices that take into account the means of Cameroonians.

The Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, said that the sedans that will be assembled and mounted in this plant will cost between four and five million FCFA.
