Election 2018: Paul Biya launches his campaign in Maroua this Saturday, 29th September 2018

It's official: In a statement, the Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic announces that the Head of State, candidate for his own succession, will be this Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Maroua for his first meeting in view of the 2018 Presidential election.

Seven years after his last stay in Maroua during the presidential election of October 9, 2011, Paul Biya has chosen to return to the capital of the Far North Region for his first campaign rally for the Presidential of October 07, 2018.

Having been absent from the field of meetings since the opening of the electoral campaign on 22 September 2018, the incumbent President of the Republic, candidate for his own succession, will hold his inaugural meeting with his wife, Chantal Biya.

During the pre-campaign period, some localities such as Kribi in the Southern Region, Monatele in the Central Region, had invited the ruling CPDM National President to launch his campaign at home. Finally, the man who has ruled Cameroon for 36 years, preferred the distant city of Maroua, capital of the Far North, a region with the highest electoral density

"On the political level, the choice of this first official exit candidate Biya, can not be a coincidence. Indeed, because of its demographic weight, the Far North Region is the main electoral reserve of our country and therefore the key to all the presidential elections in Cameroon and with this region, President Biya maintains a quasi-fusional relationship " explains Yves Marc Medjo, a journalist serving in the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic.

From now on, of the nine candidates engaged in the poll of 07 October 2018, only Adamou Ndam Njoya, candidate of the UDC, remains invisible on the ground of the electoral campaign.
