Anglophone Crisis: Confusion as Corpses discovered on Kumba streets

The corpses of two youngsters have been discovered on a stretch of road in Kumba, South West Regions of Cameroon. Passersby spotted the dead bodies riddled with bullet wounds early Thursday, September 13.

Sight of these lifeless bodies few meters away from a petrol station towards the Tancha-neighbourhood of the metropolis has left some city dwellers confused.

The National Times could not independently confirm that the youngsters were gunned down on a bike at nightfall on Tuesday.

According to information The National Times gnarled, the youngster defied orders at a security control post, after security officers have ordered the bike to halt for checks. The duo are said to have rather speed-off.

However, the identities of those who pulled the trigger at the youngsters remain unknown. It is not known if it was the military elements that shot at the duo or gunmen from the unknown. No official statement has been made regarding the happenstance.

A city dweller whose name we are concealing for professional reasons said one of the youngsters killed is a native of Malende in Kumba III Sub-division. Our source said, the youngster had an unstable lifestyle. Relatives carried the corpse for burial in the early hours of Thursday. At the time of this report, it was unclear if the other corpse had been carried away.

This development comes just over a month after a suspected Ambazonia fighter was killed in broad daylight at the Bonakama vicinity of Kumba I Sub-division.

Some inhabitants of the neighbourhoods burst into celebration after men in plain attire conducted the killing. They claimed that the individual killed had become a thorn on the flesh of the population asking for money at gunpoint.

The Prefect for Meme, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong has challenged the population to report suspects to the security forces.
