Kribi-Mboro section: The administration is busy settling the issue of compensation after the movement of mood that paralyzed the traffic

Cin | Last Friday, the populations Mabi, Batanga and Yassa who have been waiting for more than 4 years that the State compensate them following the construction projects of the port of Kribi and the Kribi-Lolabé highway erected barricades at the Lobé bridge that leads to the port of Kribi.

These people are demanding compensation from the government, just as they are demanding jobs in the various sectors of activity at the Autonomous Port of Kribi. According to the demonstrators, the source of their anger is in the statements of a director whose structure is a big partner of the port of Kribi.

"This gentleman said in a media that more than 80% of young people in Kribi work in the port, and that at this moment, a hundred is formed abroad. As for compensation, he says that we have already paid for everything. These statements are totally false, "said a local resident. The director's remarks were broadcast on August 15, 2018.

Two days later, on Friday, August 17, 2018, people erected barricades on the Lobe bridge. Employees at the port as well as those on the highway no longer had access to these different sites. It was after five hours of negotiations with the administrative authorities, the leaders of the port and Senator Grégoire Mba Mba that the barriers were removed.

According to Cameroon Tribune of Wednesday, August 22, 2018, since August 17, successive meetings to find solutions to the problems of compensation and recruitment of young people in the structures of the locality. The newspaper reveals that the file has been dragged because there have been too many errors.

"We would have already compensated these populations. But, some people have made requests for bad evaluation of their property, and others, denouncing unknown persons on the lists. So we went back to work, "said a source at Kribi prefecture.
