Bamenda: The Director Agnès Yougang Is Dead!

Agnes Lydian Yougang is gone. The young director, according to a statement from the Association of Ladies of the Image of Cameroon (ADAMIC), died yesterday morning in a hospital in Bamenda in the North West. She lost several months of struggle against the disease. Born on November 17, 1977 in Mbo, the young lady was noticed by winning in recent years several competitions dedicated to the 7th art.

In 2016, she was the winner of the "Binga Talent" contest, reserved for directors and journalists for the Mis Me Binga festival. She won first prize with her documentary project "The Spark of Woman", and obtained a training in Germany, supported by the Goethe Institute and the FilmArche. A year later, she presented the professional trip, the documentary "Eldorado", a short film of 12 minutes around the concerns of immigration and cultural exchanges between Western and African countries.

She has been selected for many projects and won several awards. For example, she was a laureate of "7 days for a film" organized at (in 2009) by the French Institute, she received the Network Award at the Douala International Short Film Festival (FICOD), the Golden Lion of television magazines on biodiversity, the Jury Prize at the live image festival, among others. She has produced and / or produced a dozen films (short films and documentaries) that have had an official selection in festivals from here and elsewhere.

They are: "Faille", "Make your choice", "Never again", "You will not die", "Vœu", etc. Agnes Yougang was full of ambitions. She was preparing for her very first documentary feature in collaboration with the Berlin FilmArche, and had just finished writing a series entitled "Deux Temps Trois Mouvements".
