Cameroon-Info

Nothing has filtered from their interviews but it is believed to be able to say that they were cordial. The President of the Republic and his guest reviewed the rich and fruitful cooperation between Cameroon and the Commonwealth since our country's accession to the Gentlemen's Club in 1995. As Patricia Scotland will reveal in her speech at the official luncheon which followed, "Cameroon is a very important and valuable member of the Commonwealth". At the end of the hearing, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth was elevated by the Head of State to the dignity of Grand Officer of the Order of Value, the highest honor awarded to a foreign dignitary.

During the official lunch, the Head of State took stock of the socio-political and economic situation of the country marked in particular by the war against the terrorist group Boko Haram, corporatist agitation in the North-West and South-West regions. Western secessionist extremists have seized to assassinate elements of the defense and security forces. He also talked about the economic situation.

President Paul BIYA recalled all the measures taken by the government to appease the situation in the North-West and South-West regions. He reiterated his willingness to dialogue, but he also stood firm on his determination to "restore order and (to) punish the guilty of these killings".

Regarding the economic situation, the Head of State noted the ongoing efforts to regain strong growth. Finally, he presented the "dual advantage" of Cameroon's membership in the Commonwealth, namely, "participating in the cooperation programs implemented; build special relationships with most members. "

For its part, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth has expressed "great sadness" in the face of the difficulties currently facing Cameroon, a country known as a haven of peace and stability. She urged Cameroonians to preserve peace and unity; to privilege in all circumstances the dialogue. According to Scotland, "a prosperous Cameroon is a prosperous Africa and a prosperous Commonwealth.
