Cameroon Sack Coach Hugo Broos

Hugo Broos has been sacked as the coach of Cameroon, the normalisation committee that runs the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) announced on Monday.

The FECAFOOT said it “took the decision due among others, failure on the side of the coach to guide the team to 2018 World Cup and his involvement in the famous Brussels Scandal”.

He now leaves the lucrative job weeks after having been nominated for CAF Coach of the Year award alongside Héctor Cúper, Hussein Amotta, Gemot Rohr and Mihayo Kazembe.

The 65-year-old has revealed before that he turned down several managerial jobs after his Africa Cup of Nations triumph, including an offer to coach South Africa national team.

Apart from coaching Cameroon, Broos has vast experience as a manager, having won the Belgian Championship twice with Club Brugge and then again with Anderlecht. He has also enjoyed spells in Greece, Turkey and Algeria in recent years.
