Yaoundé - Bafoussam Road Accident: President Paul Biya Reacts


CIN| A serious traffic accident occurred on Friday, July 06, 2018, around 4 am in the area of ​​Boutourou I, in the district of Ndikinimeki, in the department of Mbam-and-Inoubou, on the N ° 4 linking Yaoundé to Bafoussam. The result of this accident is 31 dead and 4 injured.

The tragedy occurred when the vehicle abruptly left the roadway and continued its course through the undergrowth, before crashing down an embankment. " The first investigations conducted by the Minister of Transport, state that the driver of the accident vehicle was not holder of a driver's license, " said the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, in a statement made public for this purpose.

Moreover, it says, " the carrier does not have a second-class license that could have enabled it to operate in the interurban transport of people. It is therefore a clear case of clandestine transport ".

Faced with this tragedy, the Head of State, Paul Biya, addresses to families so severely tested, his most saddened condolences and wishes his speedy recovery to the wounded.

According to the statement, " the President of the Republic has instructed that the responsibilities are clearly established and that the appropriate sanctions are immediately taken against any natural or legal person involved in the occurrence of this tragedy ".

The Head of State prescribes to the competent authorities " an increase in road safety and an absolute repression of offenses of any kind found in the field of road traffic throughout the national territory ".

It once again calls for " the vigilance of road hauliers in respect of the safety and maintenance measures of their vehicles, as well as the prudence and the observance of the Highway Code and the general rules of road safety" on our various roads ».

According to Issa Tchiroma Bakary, further investigation was initiated to establish the circumstances of this accident and draw all the consequences that will result.
