BIR save tormented Meme population from hunger, hardship

Jdu| Elements of the elite force, Friday, June 29, 2018, donated food items and farm equipment to the population of Tancha and Ntam II in Kumba III Sub-division.

The food items and farm equipment consisted of bags of rice, bags of salts, maggi, bags of onions, cartons of soap, other detergents, spraying cans, rain boots, spades and machetes.

Leading the BIR delegation to the ceremonial ground was the Divisional Officer (DO) of Kumba III, Vecklin Epulewane.

The occasion, though void of speeches, accorded the military officers and the population the opportunity to bury the hatchet and sue for peace as the ongoing Anglophone Crisis persists.

During the event the soldiers showed their humane part to the population and reminded them that they are not killer robots, but human beings with children of their own.

In this light, the soldiers carried some children, played with others and took photographs with the beneficiaries of their donations.

The donation from the military has come to douse the tension that has been mounting in the area among the security forces and the population.

For a week now, repeated skirmishes between the military and the population has ignited mass exodus of the population out of Kumba III. The deadliest of the skirmishes occurred on Monday, June 25, 2018, when a gun battle between the military and the gunmen at Three Corners Fiango, left many casualties on.
